TEMPLAR™ STUDIOS ANNOUNCES STORMRUNNER
FOR LEGOMINDSTORMS.COM
Project Is One Of The Largest Java Games Ever Created For The Web

New York, NY - Templar Studios, LLC announced today the successful launch of the STORMRUNER video game last month, available exclusively on the legomindstorms.com community website. The groundbreaking Java game was designed and built by Templar Studios and produced by LEGO® MINDSTORMS™.

Over a year in development, STORMRUNNER comprises of over 40,000 lines of Java code, and incorporates integrated cinematic Macromedia Flash materials. The game is a self-installing, single-player environment, with an expansive and complex universe. Players explore and solve problems by building and programming virtual robots modeled after the sophisticated LEGO MINDSTORMS Robotics Invention System. With an open-ended narrative driving hours of gameplay, it is not only one of the biggest games written using Sun Microsystem's Java language, but one of the largest and most sophisticated games ever created for a web browser.

"We believe STORMRUNNER single-handedly redefines the genre of web-based games," said Peter Mack, President & General Manager of Templar Studios. "Producing this game represented a very big challenge for both LEGO MINDSTORMS and Templar and we are extremely pleased with the positive reaction from the public and the significant traffic the game is generating."

With over 5,000 game downloads, the game has generated a significant increase in discussion within the Forums on legomindstorms.com with players stating they were "glued to the screen for hours." The game, which launched on April 13, is the second developed by Templar for LEGO MINDSTORMS, and follows the release of ROBOHUNTER, a 3D simulation game which launched in November 1999.

Formed in 1998, Templar Studios is a collective of artists, animators, designers, writers, composers and internet technology specialists. Specializing in developing the highest quality interactive entertainment, Templar has designed and produced compelling on-line content for clients such as LEGO MINDSTORMS, Metastream Corporation, We Media, Fortunecity.com and Nick.com.
